Sisters Dreaming

$2,800.00

Title: Sisters Dreaming

Story: The stories that exist in Gundungurra Dreaming can be seen as you walk through country; they hold their place, carved into the land, sacred knowledge held and passed on for generations.

The Seven Sisters Dreaming is a special story that has been preserved and told by many clan groups throughout this nation, all with their unique perspectives.

The sandstone pillars of the Blue Mountains stand as the landform of this great story, their rugged forms reflecting the stars above them. These pillars echo the light and patterns above, shaped by the Dreaming of those who walked this earth long ago.

The background of the painting shows the distinct patternwork of sandstone, to represent the essence of Gundungurra land.

A large circle is depicted to represent people cherishing ancient songlines and the heart of community. I have painted seven stars within it to show the preserved connection the Sisters rock formations have to the Pleiades star formation.

Above this, I depict a landmark with seven lines reaching out, connecting the stars to the land as the Sisters rock formations do.

I am proud to share my heritage; it is spilled onto canvas for those who yearn for a deeper bond, who seek the pulse of an ancient truth. For collectors, it is a rare treasure. Feel the land’s heartbeat, the strength of a story that has thrived through time. This is our story, a link between earth and the night sky.

Details: Acrylic on canvas, oak frame  ready to hand. Comes with certificate of authenticity.

Size: 100cm (Height) x 69cm (Width)

ACKNOWLEDGMENT

As proud Indigenous women and emerging Indigenous artist I would like to acknowledge all of our people as the custodians and traditional owners of this great and inspiring land. I acknowledge my own, and all Indigenous People's deep connections and rich culture with the land, skies, stars and waters.

I pay my respects to all of our Elders, past, present and emerging. They are our knowledge keepers, passing on culture and tradition so that we can preserve, share and cherish it.

Yadagee - Thankyou
