Story:

This piece is a reflection of my lineage and cultural feminine influences. As I painted this artwork I reflected on the powerful Aunties and Grandmothers who came and walked before me, paving a way to make our future brighter and rich with knowledge and love. It carries with it the traits and song lines passed down through generations, echoing the voices of strong women.

Floral elements are woven into my design, symbolizing the enduring feminine bond that ties me to my family and heritage. Pattern work reflective of the ancient arts of our people form the border of this piece, as a tribute to my ancestors. Along the edge’s emu footprints circle, they are strongly ties to women in our culture.

This artwork for me is an outpouring of heritage, womanhood, and self.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT

As proud Indigenous women and emerging Indigenous artist I would like to acknowledge all of our people as the custodians and traditional owners of this great and inspiring land. I acknowledge my own, and all Indigenous People's deep connections and rich culture with the land, skies, stars and waters.

I pay my respects to all of our Elders, past, present and emerging. They are our knowledge keepers, passing on culture and tradition so that we can preserve, share and cherish it.

Yadagee - Thankyou
