Story:

As an Aboriginal artist, my heart is deeply appreciative of our traditions and the natural beauty of our land. Painting, particularly in earth pigments opens a unique form of expression that allows me to express my connections with the land, especially the sandstone mountains that have seen so many stories unfold.

In this artwork, I've tried to capture the rough textures and the bold, rich colours of the sandstones. It's like they're telling their own tales, stories about journeys from the Kedumba Valley up to the high, breathtaking peaks of the Blue Mountains. This land is more than just scenery; it's part of my history, where my ancestors lived and thrived.

Every brushstroke is a reflection of this bond, a personal tribute to the beautiful land that has given so much to my people. It's not just paint on canvas, it's a piece of my story and the timeless story of my ancestors, forever linked to this sacred country.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT

As proud Indigenous women and emerging Indigenous artist I would like to acknowledge all of our people as the custodians and traditional owners of this great and inspiring land. I acknowledge my own, and all Indigenous People's deep connections and rich culture with the land, skies, stars and waters.

I pay my respects to all of our Elders, past, present and emerging. They are our knowledge keepers, passing on culture and tradition so that we can preserve, share and cherish it.

Yadagee - Thankyou
